The challenge the NRM/A government has with their continued persecution of Dr Kizza Besigye is not legal but a political one: to convince Uganda that the man being incarcerated finally, at 68 years of age, when he was not even the main man in the opposition, found love in armed rebellion.
This is a tall order. They have so far done badly and have registered losses already (including their prized military court, and Raila Odinga missing the African Union chairmanship). But they seem obstinate, determined not to stop. As the Baganda have said, “akanaaffa tekawulira ngombe.”
Indeed, this one is likely to bury them because they seem not to hear the alarm bells. Even the autocrat needs public approval. They often need some form of consent, ironically from a public thoroughly emasculated. However, popular public opinion in Kampala is so winged against them.
Because the known facts about Dr Besigye’s life and political journey speak to a different reality. After their 1986 NRA violent struggle, Dr Besigye must have impacted strongly that he actually lost all interest in violent struggle. In several public utterances, he has called armed rebellion a dangerous cycle which never ends if it becomes the way of politics.
No amount of persuasion or provocation could tempt him back into war. Indeed, turning into a ‘democrat absolutist’ – alongside Gen Mugisha Muntu – even started to look embarrassing on them.
An obsession with civilian opposition against a clear-cut violent military government made these men appear like ‘dummy opposition,’ as ‘masquerades,’ who are actually working to sustain the same thing they appear to be opposing.
This accusation – often spoken in whispers but loud enough for all to hear – must have hurt Kizza Besigye. I, too, became suspicious at some point. Could they be dummies? But even with these speculative accusations; even with a cultist following between 2006-2016; these men would not be provoked into armed struggle.
Indeed, they thus lost space to a young firebrand Bobi Wine, whom they have actually embraced to lead the peaceful forces of change – their misgivings notwithstanding. These are the men that renowned liars in the Museveni machine are up against in the court of public opinion.
Yes, Dr Kizza Besigye might prefer a confrontational posture – which is all legally protected (organising and protesting) – but this man abhors violence. His often-unvoiced criticism against comrades (Gen Mugisha Muntu or Bobi Wine) has never been that they should embrace violence but, rather, be more aggressive, and more combative on the street, which he believes is more effective against the Museveni-types of government.
Where is the un-edited full recording?
So, we now know that Dr Kizza Besigye will not be released. As the unedited, so far non- denied Ivan-Okuda-Lord Mayor recording told us, Museveni and his son, Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba are determined to keep him in jail. That they instructed attorney general Kiryowa Kiwanuka to craft some scrawny legal opinion to keep Dr Besigye in jail. What gambling with our futures!
Indeed, Andrew Mwenda’s Rwakitura kingdom is really enjoying their time. Ironically, the man who derided the creation of the Rwakitura kingdom is the same man who is now rolling in the mud, overworking himself to defend the same farce. Oh, how the mighty have fallen!
Speaking for the ‘kingdom,’ comrade brother Andrew Mwenda has announced to the world that he has audios and videos implicating Kizza Besigye “plotting to murder Yoweri Museveni in cold blood.”
Since they aren’t interested in presenting this evidence in a competent court of law but, rather, the public court, as members of the public, we are asking to see the entirety of the evidence: unedited, unclipped, all of it. It is unbelievable that Dr Besigye upon meeting this ghosty white co-conspirators in Nairobi, they did neither greet nor introduce each other, nor share any banter. But quickly rushed to business.
In just two minutes (are they more, ten?) Besigye had summarised all his criminal plotting. Please show the world all the hours this meeting lasted. Maybe then. Maybe then.
Comfort of death in office
It has become clearer that bwana Yoweri Museveni has settled for a death in office. He cannot imagine himself watching on the sidelines, in absolute powerlessness, as someone else decides his fate. It does not matter whether this is his son or other close kindred.
But also, his young man – his so-called avenger – hasn’t demonstrated the finesse to handle the challenge of presidency. Convinced that the only way he could be removed is through Besigye-type street protests, Museveni and co-political strategists (whoever they are) are endlessly running simulations on how this might unfold and how to be ahead of the game.
So, while they gambled with creating a condition around Dr Besigye (perhaps to dampen Bobi Wine fires ahead of the 2026 elections), MP Muhammad Ssegirinya (a man they kept for long under the court martial) dies.
Quickly, the Supreme court surprised them with newly found courage to close their military courts. Before all these gambles could be settled, a by-election is announced, and they now have to deal with Bobi Wine processions inside Kampala – not Arua! With potential to ignite protests, they have responded with the only way they can: violence.
Unbeknownst to these risk-takers is that all these events are actually connected and speak to each other. The continued incarceration of Kizza Besigye feeds into the fires of the pro-Bobi Wine movement.
And should Dr Besigye die in their hands, the moment will surely be more fluid, more inviting for a revolution. I know, they call this scaremongering, but how I wish they sat back and counted the loses thus far.

Andrew Mwenda the man who “derided the creation of Rwakitura Kingdom” is now the same one “rolling in the mud , overworking himself to defend the same farce”
Aha !
That is how they do it. It is the deceptive psychology that I talked about somewhere else.
There is Judge; Deoglas Singiza Karikona he is called. This is the one who shed some crocodile tears as he ruled that he had no option but to send dying Besigye back to jail
When the public noted his fakery , they quickly called him what they saw: A Nazi Judge; a cadre Judge, accompanied by those cartoons for emphasis .
Singiza did not like that any bit. He jotted down one long bombastic protest in 5 or paragraphs . He ended up by blaming Besigye`s advocates for not doing enough to free their sick client.. Like Pontius Pilatus
Two days ago , Judge Pilato Kosokorindo was at it again. This time , his victim was Eron Kiiza. Again , Pirate claimed his hands were tightly tied by the law. Kiiza had to go back to jail
24 hours later , His Excellency Yoweri Kaguta Museveni UNTIED Singiza by appointing him Chairperson of JSC- the body that disciplines judical officers . Reward …?!?
Its like a cat being appointed to protect rats.
{Should Besigye die in jail, Museveni risks missing chance to die in office}
Museveni doesn’t risk anything as Ugandans maintain the tribalistic system that is his POWER & he knows the outside world will remain silent as long as tribal leaders are in posts & Ugandans go along! Not to forget Ugandans protect Museveni with fake elections!
Ugandans are doing everthhing to ensure Rwandese Museveni’s ownership of the zone formed by their tribal lands!
Just NO to the tribalistic system & UNITY with just ONE of them, are all Ugandans need, if they want Museveni out especially as Museveni is ensuring no Ugandan stands against him!
Rwandise Museveni the only one safe, the only one to have a say in Uganda while powerless tribally divided ruled Ugandans harras, imprison…one another for him!
Ugandans are ensuring they are slaves of Rwandese Museveni legally, constitutionally by remaining powerless tribally divided ruled, even knowing the outside world will remain silent & leave them in peace with Museveni & family!
Which opposition leader will go against Museveni at next fake presidential election?
Thanks Dr. Dr. Yusuf.
In other words, our 84-year-old “Problem of Africa”, Gen Tibuhaburwa should be reminded that: in 1943, when Adolf Hitler’s crime against humanity (Genocide) and/or the Nazification of the German Evangelical Church became unacceptable and unbearable; it was not a politician/s, but a Pastor and theologian, Dietrich Bonhoeffer who initiated the conspiracy to get rid of Hitler even if it meant the assassination of Hitler.
Otherwise, who in his/her right state of mind can still deny that: by militarizing every institution, including Kyankwanizing media Houses and Journalists; Mr. M7 wants to General Court Martial whoever goes against his diabolic dictatorship?
Doc, much as I wish “the moment will surely be more fluid, more inviting for a revolution,” I pray that Besigye doesn’t die in the militant’s hands. Indeed something must trigger a revolution, however, let it be not Besigye dying in M7’s hands.
As a doctor, Besigye treated and saved M7 and others in the Luwero bush war.
By the fact that Besigye fought along M7 in that bush war, it is enough for M7 to be empathetic and release Besigye because, M7 clearly knows that Besigye is innocent and has never plotted to kill him as “Mwenda has announced to the world that he has audios and videos implicating Kizza Besigye “plotting to murder Yoweri Museveni in cold blood.”
It’s clear like day and night that M7 and his son are the one interested in Besigye’s life. That is based on when Muhoozi said that Besigye will leave Luzira in a coffin and M7 said that Uganda is not ruled by judges after the supreme court ruling that the militant court is unconstitutional.
If at all what Mwenda says is true, it would have been art of the evidence introduced in the militant court. That evidence of audios and videos implicating Besigye wasn’t even talked about during the proceedings in the militant court. If it exists, it would be the news on its own because, that is what is called the real news, “man bites dog.”
Doc, once a fox always a fox. M7 breathes in violence and breathes out violence. For example, masked violent militants dressed in black are wielding guns in Kampala and brutalizing NUP supporters and/or the opposition in the bogus Kawempe byelections. However, govt has said, “we don’t know those masked operatives who are brutalizing the opposition. So, who is?
I mean, Besigye was kidnaped in Kenya and M7 claims that Besigye was found with guns in Kenya. However, M7 doesn’t know these “men in black” wielding guns in Kampala and brutally terrorizing a NUP candidate and his supporters, right?
Apparently, Kyagulanyi believes that. He is going ahead with the violent and meaningless bogus byelections, and indomitable to prove to us that there’s democracy in Uganda and it work!
Akot, I couldn’t agree more. M7 is not at risk at all. He is protected by bogus elections and at liberty to do as he wishes, be it brutally terrorizing Ugandans (us), killing us at will, kidnapping us, trying us in militant courts, changing our constrictions as if changing his underwear, looting our nation naked, openly building a govt based on his family, relatives, tribesmen and militants, all in the name of violent, chaotic and bogus elections!
The other day I was viciously attacked by a thin-skinned lunatic [crazy, strange or weird], who referred to M7’s brutality as, “when the state unleashes its brutality as is currently happening.”
Indeed, the state is unleashing its brutality as is happening now, but is it new?
M7 has even denied that his brutal govt doesn’t know the militant men in black who’re brutalizing innocent Ugandans!
M7 has done it all with impunity due to bogus elections.
Once again, what is going to change if the NUP candidate wins the Kawempe byelections to replace Sejirinya who was brutalized and further detained on bogus charges?
Fellow Ugandans, what will it take for us to draw the line and say enough is enough?
This is what Lubongoya said about the Kawempe bogus by elections, “We have observed similar irregularities in other byelections such as Bunsongola and Oyam, where ruling party operatives manipulate voter registers and transport non-resident voters to influence election outcome.” Rubongoya further pointed out cases from Kayunga, Omaro, Oyam where individuals were transferred from other districts to participate in byelections, a practice that could happen in the Kawempe byelections.”
Fellow Ugandans, acts of violence on the opposition per se is an irregularity. So, why does NUP keep participating in such known bogus elections in which Lubongoya has clearly highlighted as permanent and continuous irregularity? Greed.
Fellow Ugandans, like I have maintained, the fact remains, Uganda has never held free and fair elections. Each and every election has been marred by irregularities, especially violence and chaos.
By the fact that M7 captured our state by means of the gun and violence, we have never held free and fair elections because, we’re under a militant rule. Hardcore organised criminal captured our state in disguise of bringing change which has never occurred.
M7 has made it abundantly clear that a mere paper [ballot paper] will never eject him from power, hence the irregularities, violence and chaos which he uses in each and every bogus election in order to cling on power.
Take for example what the above article is talking about that, at 68 years of age, when Besigye was not even the main man in the opposition, found love in armed rebellion, is next to impossible, but above all, Mwenda’s allegations that he has audios and videos implicating Besigye “plotting to murder Yoweri Museveni in cold blood.” Where is that evidence?
On the other hand, Muhoozi M7 has clearly stated that Besigye will leave Luzira prison in a coffin, and M7 has unambiguously told us that Uganda is neither governed by democracy nor rule of law. So how will we ever bring change by means of bogus elections?
However, Kyagulanyi and NUP as the leading opposition figure and party respectively, are determined to keep us in that vicious cycle of bogus elections in order to accumulate individual wealth because, they clearly know that bogus elections are meaningless. They won’t and never will [ever] bring change to Uganda.
Idiotic cowards enjoy attacking others, but freak out and try to hide when they are challenged by the “thin-skinned” It is like our greatest fighter who is scared of women who just wear red ; assassins that live by the illusion that there is an assassin waiting behind every small bush.
They say ” enough is enough” when they that keep on and querolously bleating repetative ramblings of a paranoid
Why insn`t it foolish to justify the state brutality we all see, asking silly questions ” whats new ; what is there about NUP to defend” and then come in here sucking up : ” Doc, you see ..M7 is not at risk at all , he is killing us at will”. !!!
Am a Kenyan citizen but Ugandan at heart. Always reading your articles, and feasting on Kent and Remasse’s exchanges .
Can Doc or anyone explain to me how Besigye’s detention led to Raila Odinga’s AUC loss?
Akuno, that is called figuratively speaking.
