He identifies those of the injured as Gashom Kamusiime and John Tumwebaze who are admitted at Mbarara Regional Referral hospital for treatment.   

Bright Shaba Kyama, a scrap dealer, says that several people who were around during the explosion survived with minor injuries. He identifies the deceased as Baker and Hussein.

In a brief statement, Kasasiira says that the explosion occurred at a metal scrap shop where the victims were trying to cut the gas cylinder. 

He explains detectives from Mbarara Central police station have cordoned off the scene to gather more evidence. Police have also transferred the deceased’s bodies to Mbarara hospital for postmortem.
