Three pupils of Shalom Junior School in Bwera, Kasese district, western Uganda, were injured after a Sino truck crashed into their school over the weekend.
The truck, registration number UBP 057N, was carrying murram when the driver, who is yet to be identified, lost control while negotiating a corner on a slippery road.
The vehicle overturned, crashing into the school’s fence. According to police reports, three children standing near the fence – Brighton Mumbere, 6, Adrati Sixtusi, 3, and Edrick Mumbere, 3, sustained severe injuries.
Rwenzori East regional police spokesperson Nelson Tumushime confirmed that the injured pupils were rushed to the hospital for treatment. Meanwhile, police are actively pursuing the truck driver, who fled the scene.
