Henry Tumukunde in court recently

Court heard that on March 12, the two were arrested by army operatives and police from the offices of Tumukunde located in Kololo before being taken to the CID directorate in Kibuli where they recorded statements.

Turyamusiima adds that they were later transferred and detained at Kira Road police station before being taken to Mbuya Military Barracks where they are still being held.

On March 18, they were taken to Nakawa Chief Magistrate’s court on charges of obstruction together with ten others. However before they could appear before the magistrate, security operatives whisked them away to Mbuya.

The other suspects with whom the applicants were arrested; were charged in court in their absence and released on bond before the court issued a criminal summons for these bodyguards.

The other suspects that were produced are; Tororo North County Woman MP, Annet Nyaketcho, her husband Levy Otim, Arthur Kiiza, Nancy Atimango, John Manyala, Zion Oboth, Walter Ebong, Walter Raymond Alere, Rhoda Akello, Joyce Julian Ocoko and Richard Komaketch.

The prosecution alleges that while at Plot 12 Impala Avenue in Kololo, Kampala city, on March 12th and 13th the accused obstructed detective Sgt Michael Jackson Okello and detective superintendent of police, Richard Mwesigwa from searching and removing material exhibits from the premises.

They had been picked up together with Tumukunde who is currently in Luzira prison facing treason and illegal possession of firearms charges. The High court declined to grant him bail last week.
