Old Mutual Investment Group (OMIG) has rewarded 16 agents and 10 units for their contribution to customer retention, investment mobilisation and financial literacy during the first half of 2026.
Edmund Tumwesiga emerged as the top performer in customer retention, retaining customer investments worth Shs 12.36 billion, while Daniel Gatsinzi was named second runner-up with Shs 8.5 billion.
Both received overseas trips in recognition of their performance. The awards, held at Hotel Africana, recognised achievements between January and June 2026, highlighting the role agents play in attracting new investors and helping existing customers maintain their investments.
Presenting the business performance update for the first half of the year, Daniel Opiyo, OMIG’s head of marketing and business development, said the company’s assets under management in the unit trust market stood at Shs 4.14 trillion at the end of June, representing 58.5 per cent of the industry’s total.
The assets grew by Shs 306.1 billion between March and June, an increase of approximately eight per cent. Industry-wide unit trust assets under management also rose from Shs 6.26 trillion in March to Shs 7.08 trillion in June.
The figures highlight the importance of customer retention and investment mobilisation in a growing market, where agents help investors understand available products and remain committed to their financial goals.
Zac Kisesi, OMIG’s managing director, said agents play a critical role in connecting the business to customers and building lasting relationships based on trust.
“Our agents contribute directly to the growth of our business by bringing in new clients and helping existing customers stay engaged with their investments. That contribution is built on trust. Every clear explanation, every question answered and every follow-up helps strengthen a customer’s confidence in us. These awards recognise the agents whose dedication continues to earn that trust and support our growth,” Kisesi said.
