Police have arrested five suspects in connection with the death of 27-year-old deejay Patrick Elungat, whose body was discovered on November 23, in a water-filled pit at Angopet Cell, Katakwi town council.
Those currently in custody include Emmanuel Omongin, alias Vet, a resident of Angopet Cell; Stephen Obungan, a boda-boda rider operating from Stage B and resident of Apeleun Cell; Betty Oboliale; a Karamojong woman identified only as Kavin; and two conductors at Katakwi Stage, identified as Ijado and Okiror.
Preliminary findings suggest that Elungat was killed during a fight over a girl, who has also been arrested. Her identity has been withheld due to ongoing investigations.
East Kyoga regional police commander, SP Ibrahim Saiga, confirmed the arrests, adding that efforts to track down and arrest the remaining suspects are ongoing.
