The Opportunities Are Here (OAH) initiative has officially launched the second season of its reality TV show, alongside the premiere of a gripping new film titled You May Kiss the Bride Goodbye.
The movie features a stellar Ugandan cast, including Hellen Lukoma, Mbabazi Catherine Uwera, Fidel Sankara, Allan Kutos Katongole, and Nuwa Wamala Nnyanzi. The film was written, directed and produced by seven young filmmakers who participated in the first and second seasons of the OAH programme highlighting the initiative’s real-world impact on nurturing fresh talent.
The reality show, now in its second season, offers an unfiltered, behind-the-scenes look into the lives of young Ugandans trying to break into the film industry. From heated brainstorming sessions and tight budget deadlines to emotionally charged editing processes and red carpet premieres, the series captures the chaos and triumphs of filmmaking in Uganda.
Contestants grow under the guidance of some of the country’s most respected entertainment figures, including actor and media personality Gaetano Kagwa, screenwriter and filmmaker Nana Kagga, actress Cleopatra Koheirwe, and actor Michael Wawuyo Jr. Season Two of Opportunities Are Here premieres on July 10 on NTV Uganda.
Speaking at the launch event on Saturday at Motiv in Industrial Area, Jan Sadek, the European Union ambassador to Uganda, said: “We see tremendous potential in Uganda’s creative industry.
Initiatives like OAH give young creatives the chance to sharpen their skills, collaborate and showcase their talent.” UCC’s Julianne Mweheire reaffirmed the regulator’s dedication to supporting the local creative sector.
“The film industry is not just art, it’s a cornerstone of Uganda’s economic future,” she said. “At UCC, we are committed to creating an enabling environment where filmmakers, producers and creatives can thrive.”
