UPDF FC boosted their survival hopes with a commanding 5–2 victory over BUL FC in a Uganda Premier League match at the FUFA Technical Centre on Tuesday evening.
Emmanuel Ochen handed UPDF an early lead in the seventh minute, but BUL responded in the 36th minute through Denis Ssewagudde to level the match at 1-1. UPDF, however, seized control in the closing stages of the first half.
Ivan Bogere struck twice in quick succession, first in the 41st minute and again in added time, before Enrique Lubwama added a fourth goal at the stroke of halftime to give the visitors a commanding 4–1 lead.

The army side maintained their dominance after the restart, with Rashid Faridi netting the fifth goal in the 63rd minute to effectively put the result beyond doubt. BUL managed a late consolation through Hillary Onek in second-half stoppage time.
BUL head coach Alex Isabirye attributed the defeat to miscommunication among his players, though he declined to provide further details. UPDF assistant coach Mubarak Sempa credited the win to thorough preparation, noting that his players executed the game plan effectively from kickoff.
He said the early advantage gave his side full control of the match, which translated into their five-goal tally. The victory lifts UPDF to 12th place on the table, easing pressure in the relegation zone.
Lugazi FC, Mbarara City, Buhimba United and Calvary remain in the bottom four positions, with UPDF level on points with Lugazi as the survival battle intensifies.
