Uganda’s continental representatives, KCCA FC and Vipers SC in the Caf Champions League and Confederations Cup respectively, face a tough task after failing to impress at home in the opening round, reports JOHN VIANNEY NSIMBE.
After registering a narrow 1-0 win over Primeiro D’Agosto on Friday, KCCA FC manager Mike Mutebi admitted his side faces an uphill task when they travel to Angola this weekend for the second leg of their Caf Champions League tie.

Geoffrey Sserunkuma’s second half goal gave home fans at the Phillip Omondo stadium some relief but leaves Mutebi and his charges wary of the slim lead as they prepare for the away match in Luanda.
Mutebi was critical of veteran winger Vincent Kayizzi whose below-par performance in the match could prove costly. But Mutebi remains unequivocal that Kayizzi is a good player and his experience should help KCCA prevail over the Angolan club.
However, Agosto’s display at Lugogo showed they will not be easy opponents. Their creative midfielder Ibukun Akinfewno said playing on Astro-Turf proved a bit of a problem for them. He warned KCCA would find a different Agosto in Angola. With a slim 1-0 lead, KCCA’s prospects of progressing are not so big.
In the Caf Confederations Cup, Vipers also have a daunting task after they were held to a goal-less draw by Comoros side Volcano Clube di Moroni at Namboole stadium on Saturday.
