Allan Kyambadde is not so famous in these pages. Yet, it is the midfielders strike after 63 minutes that downed Express FC’s perennial nemesis SC Villa last Friday in the Uganda Premier League at Wankulukuku stadium.
Kyambadde was the MVP in the 2013/2014 Fufa Super League while playing for Express, but he did not live up to the new acquired tag, that had seen him join Vipers SC.
However, after beating Villa, Kyambadde is ready to disprove his doubters when they visit URA FC tomorrow in the quarterfinals of the Uganda Cup.
It has been tough for Kyambadde, his wide smile after scoring that fantastic winner notwithstanding. For a player whose form back then saw him make The Cranes team to the Africa Nations Championship (Chan) in South Africa, 2014, being loaned back and forth to Express by Vipers was demeaning.
“Every player goes through a bad spell. I am not any different. But I am happy that I am overcoming it now and getting my form back,” Kyambadde said.

There could be no better way for Kyambadde to prove that than the goal against Villa. It was his fifth in the season. However, Kyambadde not keen to rest on his laurels.
“Our game against URA is going to be tough, yet we must win it because that is our most realistic chance of silverware this year,” Kyambadde said.
URA beat JMC Hippos 5-0 in the previous round, and they are on a league winning streak of five successive games. Express in the previous round
beat Masavu FC 2-0, and have won four successive league games, the Villa one inclusive, although critics feel that on the balance of play against the Jogoos, Express were largely second best.
Express captain Saddam Juma said such an assessment was not fair and accurate, insisting that football is about taking one’s chances, which Villa did not. He added that such fine details will not change at Mehta stadium tomorrow as URA and Express clash.
