Allan Muhereza set the early pace in The Singleton Challenge after emerging overall winner as the first of a five-month circuit teed off on Saturday at the par-71 Entebbe golf course.
Playing off handicap six, Muhereza carded 69 nett to finish overall winner of the tournament that attracted more than 128 golfers. Muhereza earned himself a trophy and a trip to Kabalega Wilderness Lodge.
Greg Patterson topped Group B (handicap 10-18) with 65 nett while Winston Agaba topped Group C (handicap 19-28) with 66 nett. In the ladies category, Sheila Kesiime topped Group A with 75 nett while Rhoda Tumusiime topped B with 76 nett.

Fred Kasumba fired 75 nett to win the Seniors category, which comprised players aged 55 and above. Walter Debbo and Gloria Mbaguta delivered the long drives for men and women on Hole 9 while Kiwanuka Kiryowa took the honours for nearest shot to the pin on Hole 12.
The competition runs until May, and will be held in a series every month.
The winning pair from every month will then advance to the finale.
