Uganda Cranes fans in Lira and surrounding areas are set to enjoy the African Cup of Nations (Afcon) game against the Black stars of Ghana in a fan park setting.
The Nile Special-Afcon viewing fan park will be the place to be for The Cranes’ opening fixture after waiting for 39 years be- fore making an appearance at the continental soccer showcase.
The Cranes last played at the 1978 edition where it lost 0-2 to Ghana in the final. The viewing park is part of The Cranes Na Mutima campaign that kicked off in 2014 to rally fans behind the team.
The campaign also involved getting a 23 man fans squad that won tickets for the trip to watch the Afcon live Gabon. The ultimate goal is to have a strong representation both on pitch and in the stands.
Fans who did not make the trip have a chance to watch the opening game on giants screens at the viewing parks.
