Sixty-four golfers are set to take part in the second round of the Singleton Challenge golf tournament tomorrow at the par-71 Entebbe Golf course, writes JOHN VIANNEY NSIMBE.
The first round, played on January 16, attracted some of the most acclaimed golfers in the country. However, there is more to contest for as golfers return to the greens tomorrow for the second round of the five-series event.
At stake is an all-expenses-paid trip to watch The British Open at the Royal Birkdale in Southport, England for the grand winner.
The Open is one of the international golfing majors and it attracts the world’s best golfers such as Rory McIlroy, Jonathan Spieth and the defending champion, the Swede, Henrik Stenson.
It is the kind of memorable and life-changing experience a Ugandan golfer would have.
“We expect a highly-competitive event,” said Oscar Semawere, the vice-president of the Entebbe Golf Club.

Tomorrow’s event is a continuation of the five-month long Singleton Challenge that will climax in May this year. Alan Muhereza set the early pace in the Challenge after winning the first round last month.
Muhereza, who played off handicap 6, carded 69 nett to finish overall winner of the tournament that attracted more than 128 competitors. He will be joined by the other round one winners tomorrow in search of more points.
