Burahya County have reached the final of the fifth edition of the Tooro Kingdom MTN Amasaza Cup after holding Fort Portal City to a 1-1 draw on Sunday to advance 3-2 on aggregate.
Burahya carried a 2-1 advantage from the first leg into the return match at St Paul’s Major Seminary playground and will now face Mwenge South County in the final on Saturday, October 24, at Uganda Technical College-Kichwamba in Kabarole district.
The finalists are both former champions, with Burahya seeking to reclaim the title they won in 2024, while Mwenge South target their second crown after triumphing in 2023. The winners will receive Shs 15 million.
Tuwa sends Burahya through
Burahya strengthened their aggregate advantage when Francis Tuwa scored in the first half to put his side ahead in the return leg.
Fort Portal responded after the break, with Francis Ndigiya finding the equaliser in the 75th minute. However, the hosts could not score again to overturn the deficit, allowing Burahya to progress with a 3-2 aggregate victory.
The result ended Fort Portal’s hopes of reaching the final and gave Burahya another chance to compete for the title they won in 2024.
Burahya defeated Fort Portal in that year’s final, winning on penalties after a 1-1 draw. They had finished third in 2023 after beating Mwenge North on penalties and returned to third place in 2025, defeating Mwenge South 1-0 in the classification match.
Mwenge South stand in Burahya’s way
Mwenge South booked their place in the final by eliminating Kitagwenda in the other semi-final, winning 1-0 through Joram Seruwagi’s decisive goal.

The Kyenjojo-based side will now face Burahya in a meeting between the 2023 and 2024 champions.
Mwenge South will also be seeking to avenge their 1-0 defeat to Burahya in last year’s third-place playoff as they pursue a second tournament title.
The Omukama of Tooro, Edward Rukidi Nyabongo I, is expected to attend the October 24 final as chief guest.
Tournament resumes after suspension
Sunday’s semi-final marked the resumption of the tournament, which was suspended following the death of former Omukama Oyo Nyimba Kabamba Iguru IV on August 27, 2026.
The fifth edition features nine counties: Fort Portal, Burahya, Mwenge North, Mwenge South, Ntoroko, Bunyangabu, Kyaka, Kibaale and Kitagwenda.
The teams progressed through the group stage before entering the knockout rounds, with the semi-finals determining the two finalists.
