The breathtaking course at the Lake Victoria Serena Hotel presented the perfect golfing tournament day for its first members and guests over the weekend.

Jadu Patel, playing off handicap 12, emerged overall winner with 34 points after beating a field of 48 golfers. Patel won on count back over Moses Matsiko and Manesh Tailor (both had 34 points) to take the overall men’s trophy, a shopping voucher and bottle of Johnnie Walker Blue Label.

Handicap six Matsiko won the members’ category, outscoring the 24 registered members who took part in the event.

Anne Abeja’s return of 30 points against Liu Min Shu and Irene Nakalembe earned her the top accolades (a shopping voucher and trophy) in the ladies category.

WINNERS: Jadu Patel and Anne Abeja at the awarding ceremony

The 19th hole experience was hosted by John Kato who ushered in the guests and golfers for the prize-giving ceremony, and a whisky evening. Top government officials and businessmen including John Byabagambi (minister of state for Karamoja Affairs), John Nasasira, Amos Nzeyi and Uganda Golf Union president Johnson Omolo, competed in the tournament.

Similar tournaments will be held throughout the year, albeit on invitation as the course continues to undergo the 18 holes metamorphosis and other upgrades.
