Police in Nakaseke district are investigating the murder of a woman allegedly shot dead by her husband, Lance Corporal Denis Sserunkuuma, at Kaweweta Basic Military Training School.
The incident occurred around 3 pm on Monday, March 3. Savannah Regional Police spokesperson Sam Twiineamazima confirmed that the case was reported to Kinyogoga police station. Preliminary findings indicate that Sserunkuuma and the deceased, Kella Kebirungi Adyeri, were married and living together at the Kaweweta Army Barracks.
Eyewitnesses reported that the couple had been arguing throughout the day, with tensions escalating in the afternoon. The dispute allegedly began when Adyeri refused to prepare food at home.
Around 3 pm, she fled their grass-thatched house in panic, pursued by her husband, who was armed with a sub-machine gun (SMG).
Sserunkuuma then allegedly shot Adyeri in the head, killing her instantly. After the shooting, he attempted to take his own life by turning the gun on himself, but he only sustained a gunshot wound to the chin.
Authorities quickly responded to the scene and documented the incident. Two cases; murder by shooting and attempted suicide have been registered.
The suspect was taken to Kaweweta Military health centre IV for treatment, while Adyeri’s body was transported to Bombo Military Hospital in Luwero district for a postmortem examination.

In other words, under the leadership of our 84-year-old “Problem of Africa”, Gen Tibuhaburwa; if a grass-thatched Barracks dwelling UPDF Lunch Corporal can pursue and kill his wife over “lunch”; then things must be at their worst in the Armed Forces Barracks.
May the soul of Kella Kebirungi Adyeri be at peace, from our troubled country, whose president told us off that: he is neither our servant nor employee.
