The Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) also first son Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba has said that Uganda has deployed special forces in South Sudan’s capital Juba to “secure it” as tensions between President Salva Kiir and his First Vice President Riek Machar stoke fears of a return to civil war.

Tensions have been growing in recent days in South Sudan, an oil producer after Kiir’s government detained two ministers and several senior military officials allied with Machar.

One minister has since been released. The arrests in Juba and deadly clashes around the northern town of Nasir are seen as jeopardizing 2018 peace deal that ended a five-year civil war between forces loyal to Kiir and Machar that cost nearly 400,000 lives.

“As of two days ago, our Special Forces units entered Juba to secure it,” Uganda’s military chief, Muhoozi said in a series of posts on the X platform overnight into Tuesday.

“We the UPDF (Ugandan military), only recognize one President of South Sudan, H.E. Salva Kiir … any move against him is a declaration of war against Uganda,” he said in another post.

South Sudan government information minister and the military spokesperson did not pick up phone calls seeking comment. After the civil war erupted in South Sudan in 2013, Uganda deployed its troops in Juba to bolster Kiir’s forces against Machar.

They were eventually withdrawn in 2015. Ugandan troops were again deployed in Juba in 2016 after fighting reignited between the two sides but they also were eventually withdrawn.

Uganda fears a full-blown conflagration in its northern neighbour could send waves of refugees across the border and potentially create instability. Kainerugaba did not say whether the latest deployment was in response to a request from Kiir’s government or how long the troops would remain in South Sudan.

  1. But wherefrom did Muhoozi get the “legitimate authority” to deploy SFC (UPDF) in Juba/South Sudan and make declaration of war against whoever does not recognize the South Sudan President, Salva Kiir; as though he/they have declared war on Uganda?

Unless Uganda no longer has a constitution, which institution of the Republic is the legitimate authority to send troops abroad and/or declare war (justified war)?

In other words, we have got an 80-year-old “Problem of Africa, president M7, full of himself and his despicable idiotic son, adorned with fake ranks and command position, risking and toying around with the lives of Ugandans: Not only the lives of those in Uniform (UPDF), but also thousand others ordinary Ugandans working and/or doing business in a failed state, sic South Sudan, who will face the random violence/wrath of the belligerent South Sudanese.

Otherwise, in any democratic dispensation, the most professionally indiscipline UPDF soldier, Gen Muhoozi; should have been the first candidate for the General Court Martial, but not innocent NUP supporters and/or Dr. Besigye and Haji Mamulegeya.

Else, Ugandans should not forgetting what the fool told Kenyans two years ago: that he would lead the UPDF to capture Nairobi in 3 weeks.

In other words, should Salva Kiir’s regime fall; Tibuhaburwa’s loose canon is about to drag Uganda into a bloody and enigmas war with South Sudan. Remember, “the wounds of war never heal”!

  2. So, Rwandese Museveni’s children are ensuring lifetime presidency of S. Sudanese Salva Kiir while waiting for their father to die in post in the Uganda that’s their family business?

But of course, it’s Ugandans the powerless tribally divided who go for fake elections, are in the army…who are helping Museveni’s family & ensuring Uganda belongs to them!

If Uganda isn’t Rwandese Museveni’s family business, then what is it?

    Lakwena, thanks.

Ugandans MUST WAKE UN, NOW & say NO to the tribalistic system that is Rwandese Museveni’s POWER, then UN ITE, to block & show himway out, or they are helping Rwandese Museveni destroy them for good!

Look, European Union leaders joined USA presidential campaign to ensure D. Trump looses, but he won & now is making his stand by joining lifetime Russian ruler Putin, to shut up Europeans!

At +70 years of age, these leaders,/rulers are mad for growing older, so are more inhuman as they remain in power!

Ugandans, please, NO to the tribalistic system & UNITY, NOW, before you help Museveni destroy you for good!
