The police in Nakasongola district have recovered two bodies of a man and a woman at Bamusuuta village in Katuugo town council along the Kampala-Gulu highway.
Fred Lubinga, LC III chairman of Katuugo town council explains that the bodies were found lying on the highway at around 7:30 am before residents reported the matter to the local police station.
Lubinga said that the body of the woman was shattered beyond recognition by the moving vehicles. He added that the man is not known by residents and they suspect the two bodies could have been dumped on the road after they were killed from another area.
Nakasongola district police commander (DPC) Stephen Niragire said that upon receiving the alert from residents, police arrived at the scene and transferred the bodies to Nakasongola health centre IV for postmortem. Niragire however noted that preliminary investigations indicate that the two could have been killed in a hit-and-run accident.
“We are currently waiting for the postmortem report to guide us on the information. We are also waiting for the relatives to give us an account of the movements of the two before they died,” Niragire said.
