TMR Hospital International has put out a statement to explain what happened that caused the death of 12-year-old Augustine Kizito Ssemakula, who died at their hospital on November 13.

The hospital also clearly denied earlier media claims that it had refused to let the boy’s body go due to huge hospital bills. The hospital said in its report that Semakula, a student at Greenhill School Buwate, received full support from the moment he was admitted, covering all aspects of his care, including medical, administrative, and financial.

The statement said that doctors met with the family several times to talk about treatment plans, answer their questions, and discuss money. The hospital confirmed that the student received full intensive care services for the entire time he was there.

Semakula was buried on November 16. “We extend our condolences to the family upon the death of Semakula,” the hospital said.

His death is a huge loss. It made it even clearer that the medical team was unable to save his life, even after trying everything they could and giving him a full range of treatments.

The statement stressed working together with the family, saying that they got regular clinical updates and help with paperwork, and that all decisions about care were made together.

TMR also said that at the family’s request, it offered financial help, such as big discounts and a new payment plan, to make things easier for them during a tough time. The hospital said that it was always in touch with the family and that the relationship as a whole was respectful and helpful.
