Six people are confirmed dead and seven others are admitted at Fort Portal Regional Referral hospital after being involved in motor accident along the Fort Portal-Bundibugyo road this evening.

The accident occurred at around 6:30pm at Musandama village in Ntoroko district, some 20km to Karugutu town council.

Police says a commuter taxi registration UAN 023D, carrying 13 passengers and travelling from Fort Portal to Bundibugyo, overturned several times, killing six people on the spot.

The driver is believed to be among the dead though their identities are yet to be established.

Lydia Tumushabe, the Rwenzori regional police spokesperson, says the vehicle rolled and fell in the valley, approximately 200 metres from the road.
