Adei went on a shooting rampage on Sunday night at Naguru police barracks over allegations of infidelity. He fled the scene with the killer rifle but was tracked and arrested by a joint security team from the Directorate of Crime Intelligence (DCI) and Criminal Investigations Directorate (CID).
As the CID team and scene of crime officers documented the murder scene, they discovered a male’s body inside a nearby hut which was later discovered to be that of Tusiime. This raised questions about whether Tusiime was a mere victim of the circumstance or if he was targeted.
“I did not mistakenly shoot Tusiime but I wanted him dead. I shot him first before I shot my wife. He is the person who misled my wife and she started behaving in a way that made us separate. They were cheating on me,” a detective quoted Adei.
Luke Owoyesigyire, deputy Kampala metropolitan police spokesperson said Adei and Kongai were staying as a couple in Ntinda police barracks but following a misunderstanding, Kongai shifted to Naguru police barracks in a room allegedly rented by Tusiime.
However, statements recorded by three police officers indicate that Tusiime and Kongai had been so close and that was the start of trouble with now turned murder suspect Adei.
“Adei often warned Barbra to stop cheating on him and he would mention Tusiime in their quarrels. It was clear that he often suspected that the two were cheating on him,” a police constable has reportedly told investigators.
Adei was arrested with his gun remaining with 12 bullets.
