President Yoweri Museveni has appointed and reshuffled ambassadors and sent their names to parliament for consideration and approval.
The list that released yesterday morning features several former politicians mainly from the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) party.
Notable among the new appointments is former Defence minister Dr Crispus Kiyonga who is appointed Uganda’s ambassador to Beijing, China and Ronnie Balya; the former director general of the Internal Security Organisation (ISO) is appointed Uganda’s ambassador to Juba.
Katende Mull Sebujja replaces Oliver Wonekha as the ambassador to Washington DC. Wonekha is now sent to the embassy in Kigali, Rwanda while former Kasese Municipality MP James Mbahimba is deployed to Kinshasha, Democratic Republic of Congo, to replace Maj. James Kinobe who now moves to Khartoum.

Ambassador Mubiru Stephen moves from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, to head Uganda’s mission in Ankara, Turkey. Former Butaleja Woman MP Hyuha Samali Dorothy now takes over the mission in Kuala Lumpur.
The Kyabazinga of Busoga, William Gabula is also appointed ambassador in Charge of Special Duties, under the Office of the President. Other new appointments include former legislators Nekesa Barbara Oundo, Phoebe Otaala, Rebecca Otengo Amuge, Ruth Aceng and Ocula Nyeko Michael. Also appointed is Mohammed Kezaala.
Onyanga Aparr Christopher remains the permanent representative of Uganda to the United Nations and other International Organizations, and World Trade Organization, in Geneva.
Others whose deployment is not changed include Nelson Ocheger who remains the ambassador to Abuja, Nigeria and Kibedi Zake Wanume who remains in Copenhagen, Denmark, Solomon Rutega – who also remains in Guangzhou, and Betty Akech Okullu in Tokyo.
