Sharifah Buzeki, the newly appointed KCCA executive director
Sharifah Buzeki

President Museveni has appointed Hajjat Sharifah Buzeki as the new executive director of Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) and Benon Kigenyi as her deputy.

Buzeki replaces Dorothy Kisaka, who, along with two other top KCCA officials Eng David Luyimbazi and Dr Daniel Okello, the director of public health was dismissed following the catastrophic collapse of the Kiteezi landfill in August. The tragedy claimed over 30 lives, prompting a directive from the president to revamp the KCCA leadership.

Buzeki, a seasoned human resource practitioner, brings a wealth of experience to the role. With 13 years in human resource management, institutional development, and performance management, she has been instrumental in designing and implementing inspection programs at the ministry of Public Service.

She also supported MDAs and local governments in developing service delivery standards and integrating results-oriented management (ROM) and output-based budgeting (OBB).

The appointments follow a directive from the president instructing the Public Service Commission to advertise and fill the roles of executive director, deputy executive director, and director of public health within three months to address leadership gaps at KCCA.

  1. One wonders whether these many lined up expensive KCCA executive diretors are being well paid their usual wages of about 40 million shillings per month from the tax payers money?
On a point of information; is the observer editor putting up “leave a comment” as a very serious journalistic paragraph on their online pages? It does not make sense to call out for public commets when in actual fact the observer journal does not need them! It is high time these Uganda newpapers updated their social media outputs to better international standards. The public spend money and time absorbing their information and they should be most considerate about such efforts.
