Traffic police have assured the public that Maj Gen Muzeeyi Sabiiti’s life is out of danger after he was involved in a serious road crash on Saturday evening in Lwengo district while returning from a traditional wedding function.

Sabiiti, who heads the National Military Industrial Complex, was travelling when his vehicle reportedly collided head-on with a truck carrying cattle. Superintendent of Police (SP) Michael Kananura, traffic police spokesperson, said investigations into the cause of the crash are ongoing.

Following the crash, Sabiiti was airlifted by a Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF) helicopter to Nakasero Hospital in Kampala for emergency treatment. The extent of his injuries has not yet been disclosed.

Kananura noted that further details would be shared during the police’s Monday media briefing but stressed that the General was out of immediate danger.

“I will give details tomorrow [Monday], but I want to inform you now that the General’s life is out of danger,” he said.

Reports indicate that Sabiiti was returning from the introduction ceremony of President Yoweri Museveni’s granddaughter, Nsasiirwe Karugire, who was getting married to the son of Lt Gen Sam Kavuma. When asked whether anyone had been arrested over the crash, Kananura said it was too early to assign blame.

“You cannot arrest anyone before knowing who was in the wrong. It is something we’re still investigating,” he explained.

Sabiiti, a seasoned officer, served as deputy Inspector General of Police from March 2018 to December 2020, before being replaced by the late Maj Gen Paul Lokech. He currently serves as General Manager of UPDF Industries in Greater Luweero.

He has previously commanded the UPDF Military Police and the elite Special Forces Command (SFC), which is tasked with protecting the President, the First Family, and strategic government installations.

  1. A very, very lucky man. If this man did not previously have reason to believe in God, he now has one. The picture shows that he had no chance at survival. None, whatsoever. The Giver of life still has work for him, I guess.

  2. The majority of Ugandans who are the victims of the the sadists in the UPDF/armed forces, are not sadists. But in any case, who cares about the cold-bloody, cruel and foul UPDF Generals deployed by our 85-YEARS-OLD PROBLEM OF AFRICA, in the Uganda Police as Deputy IGP, to superintend over the abduct, torture, forced disappearances and organized extrajudicial murders of the members of the opposition political party members.

In other words, It is a wakeup call to those who mock God and cause harm like the Lt Gen Sam Kavuma of this country; who while brainwashing school teachers a week or so ago, told them that their poverty was because God was angry with them and hence cursed.

    1. Lakwena, this story reveals the true perception and/or reality about the militants and govt in general. Mbu, “Traffic police have assured the public that Maj Gen Muzeeyi Sabiiti’s life is out of danger.” Who gives a rat’s ass? Talking about arrests, did anyone plan that accident? Based on the story, it appears that there’s nothing out of the ordinary but a mere accident. However, it’s common cause in Uganda that if high ranking militants or govt officials are involved in an accident, it doesn’t matter who was at fault, it is always the other driver who gets arrested, if he/she survives the accident. More often than not, those militants and govt officials are driven at a breakneck speed, thus the cause of accidents.
It’s also important to note that what does a militant got to do with the police or better still, being involved in Industries in Greater Luweero? No wonder, in Uganda, we have militants who captured our state by means of the gun and violence. Now, they are running it are there boniness to make money but not to defend the country against foreign invasion. That’s why a fellow militant is assuring us that the Gen. is out of danger as if anyone cares or planed the danger.
      Out of danger, my ass.

        1. Never mind!

However highly educated, qualified and/or experience, these rabid and primitively sectarian people, are ringfencing and crowding out the rest of Ugandans from strategic and highly paid jobs.

In other words the rest of Ugandans are educated or educate their children at own risk. During and after graduation, they are the ones told to create their own jobs.

While the former and power that be grabbed their jobs at gun point and keep it at gun point, and dispense the same to their mediocre qualified kin, sons and daughters on the proverbial Silver Platter.

E.g., whose children are the victims of the current School Teachers sit-down strike?

Your answer is as good as mine.

In other words. the salary disparity between the so call science teacher and those of the Humanities teachers, was unliterary and still is by design- A sabotage by none other than our now 85-years-old PROBLEM OF AFRICA who has no common sense value for Ugandans.

Wasn’t he the one who loudly and clear, told us off in our faces and hearing on 26th Jan 2017; that he was neither our servant nor employee?

How then do Ugandans expect quality and value for money service delivery under such a leader?

          NYET!
