Kyagulanyi, who was returning from the home of NUP lawyer George Musisi in Bulindo, Kira, Wakiso district, was initially rushed to Najeem Medical Centre in Kira-Bulindo for first aid yesterday before being referred to Nsambya hospital for further treatment.
NUP spokesperson Joel Ssenyonyi revealed that the decision to discharge Kyagulanyi was prompted by reports that plain-clothed security personnel were allegedly attempting to gain access to his hospital room and demanding his medical records. Concerned for his safety, Kyagulanyi’s team requested that he continue his treatment at home in Magere.
“The operatives in civilian clothes have been trying to access his room since last night. They even demanded his medical forms from the hospital, but fortunately, the hospital declined. We don’t know what they intend to do to him,” Ssenyonyi stated.
Earlier in the day, police deployed heavily at St Francis Nsambya hospital, restricting access and blocking roads leading to the facility.
According to police spokesperson Rusoke Kituuma, the deployment was intended to maintain law and order around the hospital. Kituuma also emphasized that the cause of Kyagulanyi’s injury would only be determined after a thorough investigation, cautioning against drawing conclusions from videos circulating on social media.
