Kamuli police have arrested a woman, Kevin Nabirye, on charges of attempted murder after she allegedly severed her husband’s genitals.
The victim has been identified as 37-year-old Mathias Bwamiki. The incident occurred on the night of February 18 at around 11:00 p.m. in their home in Buguwa village, Kawaga parish, Balawoli sub-county, Kamuli district.
According to Bwamiki, he was asleep when he suddenly felt a sharp pain in his genitals, prompting him to wake up and defend himself. He claims that after realizing what had happened, Nabirye accused him of comparing her to other women on the social media platform, TikTok.
Bwamiki further alleges that his wife warned him that if he ever “tampered with her” again, she would take poison.
Busoga North police spokesperson, Michael Kasadha, stated that preliminary investigations indicate that the victim’s brother, Godfrey Mukubo, received a distress call from Bwamiki alerting him to the attack. Upon arrival at the scene, Mukubo found his brother in a pool of blood. He quickly rushed him to Kamuli General Hospital before reporting the matter to the police.
Kasadha confirmed that police have recovered exhibits of evidential value from the crime scene and that investigations are ongoing.
