FILE Education minister Janet Museveni

The First Lady, Janet Museveni, did not show up at Kololo ceremonial grounds as President Yoweri Museveni took the oath for the next term in office.

It was the first time since the 1996 election that ‘Mama’ Janet Kataaha Museveni was missing at such a ceremony.  Museveni was accompanied by one of his daughters, Natasha Karugire, who stood to his left as he stepped onto the dais to take the oath of office.

Janet’s absence sparked widespread speculation among Ugandans and on social media.
Amidst murmurs in the crowds at Kololo, the Dean of the Province of the Church of Uganda, Bishop Sheldon Mwesigwa, offered a public prayer for the Janet’s health.

Speaking with what appeared to be evident knowledge of her condition, Rt Rev Mwesigwa, who is also the Bishop of Ankole Diocese, declared that Janet had “healed and recovered”.

His words drew spontaneous applause from hundreds gathered at Kololo. The bishop went further, thanking the First Lady for her steadfast support of her husband throughout the election campaign and committing the entire First Family into the hands of God.

Public concern about Janet’s health had simmered for several weeks. The State House had remained largely silent, fuelling rumours and a flood of unverified reports on social media.

Lt Gen (Rtd) Proscovia Nalweyiso was among the first “officials” to publicly address the matter in interviews, revealing that Museveni himself had confirmed his wife had fallen ill but was steadily recuperating, and appealing for continued prayers from Ugandans.

The absence and limited information triggered intense online debate and, in some cases, misinformation.

A journalist, Arnold Anthony Mukose, was arrested and charged with publishing false and distressing information after allegedly spreading reports suggesting the First Lady had died. He was later granted bail.

Janet, who also serves as minister of Education and Sports, has been a central figure in her husband’s political journey since the 1980s bush war era.

She was also highly visible and actively supportive on the campaign trail during the 2026 elections.  Her absence at such a milestone event, marking Museveni’s continuation in power for more than four decades, naturally drew attention.

  1. It wants to look like this female civil servant’ state of illness and all the government expenses being endured by the Uganda tax payers are all classified expenses. It is unfortunate that the Church of Uganda is determined to oppose that very important section of the constitution of Uganda that clearly states that Uganda is very much a secular state!! Uganda surely and practically is officially neutral in matters of religion, corruption, and blatant rigging of democratic national elections!!

    1. Have mercy on some of these clergymen/women. Church of Uganda has a direct root connection with Sevos through late Bamwoze(from Busoga), that’s why the current Bishop of Busoga was consecrated and enthroned on December 14, 2025, with a name of Lubaale. Nevertheless, he has no much connection with the family roots of the founding fathers of Jinja town or special anointing, hence is powerless to avert any calamity. A discerning clergyman would request to know what kind of bible is being used at swearing ceremony. In the book of 1Samuel 17:16, “For forty days the Philistine came forward every morning and evening and took his(Goliath) stand”. Now, for 40 yrs(40 days swearing in) Ugandans have experience the same. God can’t be mocked! He sees everything under the sun, and will act at his appointed time, then every man/woman will feel his wrath. Wait and See!

  2. I hope she didn’t pass away, it was planned until the swearing ceremony then deliver the sad news. The “Sovereignty Bill” was in her wish list. I was waiting to see her so that I do away with the dream I had of her passing away. There was ceremonial bachwezi rituals that was conducted. If Sevo carried a real bible in the swearing in, then “Goliath has fallen” today!

    1. There was ceremonial bachwezi rituals that was conducted, I believe the day she passed away. As a spiritual “watchman” of Uganda, I diffused/objected on enshrining her. I was surprised to see two prominent church leaders participating in the bachwezi rituals, it turned out they(church leaders) too get their spiritual powers(miracles) from Nalubaale. Ugandans, God wants to do away with Sevos rituals/religion/bachwezi. God started this process 30yrs ago, let’s turn our hearts and mind to God. We(Uganda) will be like the days of King David. God, himself will fight Sevos and co. We will not need to raise a finger.

  3. But I wonder which “god/God’s hand” Bishop Mwesigwa, who is also the Bishop of Ankole Diocese (sectarian Bishop) , was referring to.

Since our 86-years-old PROBLEM OF AFRICA, Gen Tibuhaburwa and his son, Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba have murderous hatred for Obote (RIP), Hon Ssegirinya (Not resting in peace- NRIP) Dr. Kiiza Besigye (to be hanged in Gulu or die behind bars), Hon Kyagulanyi (will be castrated), Hon Mwanga Kivumbi (alleged terrorist whose supporters and relatives were massacred by the regime hatchet men), etc., etc.

I therefore, wonder what kind of a god/God commits the First Family to his/her hand.

In other words, these criminals really want to die in our State House and/or mummified and fossilized therein.

    1. Lakwena the history of Uganda is complex; When Obote(RIP) sponsored the likes of Museveni through Mzee Byanyima(RIP) recommendations; Sevos, Ruhakana Rugunda, Emmanuel Mutebile(RIP), etc. Museveni eavesdropped on hidden secrets of late Obote. Most of Sevos colleaques had great respect of late Obote. Obote(RIP) knew that kingdom-ship promoted massive witchcraft practices, division and it was not sustainable to unit the whole country. On the other hand, Museveni promoted the vice, he restored kingdoms to his own benefits of secretly exhorts “evil” powers, embraced the likes of other “clergymen” who practice and support the activities. You would be surprised how many shrines are enclosed to state house, why Sevos “evil” spirit hover around prominent places in Uganda like Jinja, Mbale etc. he doesn’t ONLY end in using “evil” power, he sales it to his friends who believe is a “demigod”. In conclusion; Kingdoms and Churches in Uganda are under Museveni’s spiritual power, this makes him the supreme leader,”Bachwezi” clan leader. His son is fighting hard to be the successor of the father’s spiritual powers thou forgetting what happened to Saul and Jonathan in scriptures 1samuel 31. God, himself is coming for Sevos and his family. Those who worship him(Sevos) will see it and denounce the vice.
