Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) footage shows that some staff were in office by the time the fire started at ministry of Health headquarters on Sunday afternoon.
According to state minister for Health, Sarah Opendi, the staff captured on CCTV during the fire outbreak are to record statements with the police to explain exactly what happened.
Opendi told journalists this morning, that they expect a preliminary report from police by close of business later today. She disclosed that they are currently hunting for space to handle urgent business since the building is out-of-bounds to staff.
By this morning, several ministry staff were confined to a section of the parking lot. Our reporter also saw heavy presence of anti-terrorism police at the Health ministry headquarters.
Vivian Nakaliika Serwanjja, the ministry spokesperson says that they are still waiting for a team of detectives and forensic experts to comb the scene and start investigations.
She said the ministry hoped that by 2pm the team will be through with investigations in the affected offices to enable staff of other departments resume work.
The Health ministry, permanent secretary, Diana Atwine told the affected staff that in the meantime, they will be hosted elsewhere.
