“We are treating it as a homicide. We are going to analyse the report as part of the ongoing investigations,” Kayima said. He says police has withheld the names of the substances found in both bodies so as not to jeopardize the investigations.
Police has written to the Internal Security Organisations (ISO) asking five of its operatives to appear at police and record statements in relation to the deaths of the two foreigners. Among those whose statements are needed is the director general of the ISO Fred Kaka Bagyenda.
“Police wrote to them but we are yet to get a response. We want everyone who interacted with the deceased from the time they reached the airport, booked them into the hotel etc,” Kayima said.
A New Vision crime investigations journalist Charles Etukuri who has since gone missing after being abducted by men dressed in military fatigue last week, linked the death of Petteri to top officials in the Internal Security Organisation.
Petteri reportedly presented a forged invitation letter purportedly from ISO director general, Col (rtd) Kaka Bagyenda, which was seized at Entebbe airport.
It is alleged that Petteri was reportedly accompanied by a Ugandan woman, Faridah Nakaye, and other armed people to the Pearl of Africa on the day he arrived only to be found dead at around 7am the next morning, according to Doreen Komuhangi, the hotel’s public relations officer.
Sebastien was found dead at midday, hours after being picked by ISO operatives from Entebbe airport. Three suspects including a waitress who were seen with the Finish national at Pearl of Africa hotel and two fixers are in police custody.
