A 14-year-old boy, Simon Okodi, died on Sunday evening after falling off a moving truck along the Kibale–Kamuge road in Kibale town council, Pallisa district.

According to Wilfred Kyapasa, the acting Bukedi North regional police spokesperson, the teenager and a friend had left home to visit a barber in Kibale trading centre. On their way, the pair reportedly jumped onto a slow-moving Isuzu Forward truck, registration number UBE 451Y, without the knowledge of the driver.

As the truck approached Kibale Town, one of the boys managed to jump off safely at a road hump. However, Okodi lost his balance while attempting to disembark and was allegedly run over by the truck.

A traffic police team led by Fred Mutono from Pallisa police station responded to the incident, documented the scene with a sketch plan, and transported the body to Pallisa General Hospital mortuary for a post-mortem examination.

The truck driver, identified as Mike Okodi, was arrested and remains in custody as investigations continue. The vehicle has been impounded and is currently parked at the Kibale yard, awaiting inspection by the Inspector of Vehicles (IOV).
