Some of Bobi Wine bodyguards in the dock

Five supporters of the opposition National Unity Platform (NUP), mostly Bobi Wine aka Robert Kyagulanyi’s bodyguards, have been charged and remanded to Luzira Prison on allegations of unlawful drilling, after videos circulated showing them conducting a military-style parade.

The accused, Tasi Calvin alias Bobi Giant, Edwin Serunkuuma alias Eddie King Kabenja, Sharif Lukenge, Yasin Nyanzi, and Tonny Kaweesi, had spent nearly two weeks in police custody before being brought to court on Monday under heavy security.

They were transported in police patrol trucks, commonly known as “drones,” while roads leading to the court were sealed off. Access to the courtroom was tightly restricted, with only accredited individuals allowed entry.

The five now join Edward Sebuufu alias Eddie Mutwe and Achileo Kivumbi, who had earlier been charged with the same offence before Kawempe Chief Magistrate’s court. Prosecutors allege that on February 12, 2025, at the NUP offices in Makerere-Kavule, Wandegeya, Kawempe Division, the seven accused and others still at large gathered without ministerial permission and engaged in military-style training.

The prosecution further contends that the accused conspired with others to commit a felony, in violation of Sections 45(1)(b) and 363 of the Penal Code Act, which prohibit unlawful drilling and conspiracy to commit felonies.

All the accused pleaded not guilty and applied for bail, presenting relatives and friends as sureties. Their legal team, comprising Kakuru Tumusiime, Shamim Malende, Jonathan Erotu, Elias Luyimbazi Nalukoola, and Samuel Muyizzi Mulindwa argued that the charges were bailable and that the sureties were substantial.

However, court heard that some proposed sureties, including NUP deputy spokesperson Alex Waiswa Mufumbiro, were blocked from accessing the court premises. Mufumbiro was later arrested and whisked away to an undisclosed location.

Chief state attorney Sharon Nambuya requested a one-month adjournment, saying her office was overwhelmed with cases and required more time to verify affidavits and other documents submitted for the bail application.

She warned that even a two- or three-week adjournment would still be insufficient for the prosecution to proceed. Grade One Magistrate Damalie Agumaasiimwe rejected the request for a month-long adjournment, emphasizing the need to balance the interests of the accused with the concerns of the prosecution.

She instead adjourned the matter to September 29, 2025, directing the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) to file a response before then. For now, the accused will remain on remand at Luzira Prison.

  1. In other words, at Kyankwanzi or wherever, the Lt Gen Sam Kavuma of this country can commandeer school teachers for typical ideological brainwashing, paramilitary training, on how to use, assemble and disassemble the AK47 assault rife, etc., etc.

And nobody says a word, nor the Police and other security agents, round/DRONE them (participants) up for questioning, why as civilians and school teachers at that; who do not intend to join the armed forces, participate in military training/parade, etc.?

For Heaven and Hell’s sake: whoever went to school must have undergone some sort of School Morning and Evening Discipline Assembly parade and/or Independence Day Drill/parade, etc.. BUT for NUP supporters/members to try and mimic such a thing, it is treason.

In other words, who in his/her right state of mind can still deny that: although for 39 years and counting, our 84-years-old PROBLEM OF AFRICA, Gen Tibuhaburwa has been on a stranglehold of power in our State House; the man is still terrified and haunted by Hon Kuteesa defeating and humiliating him hands down, during the 10th Dec 1980 General Election?

That TERROR has driven the man into xenophobic paranoia (a psychopath) such that; because of his consecutive FAKE VICTORIES, and driven by the terror of the LOSS OF ATTENSION, after the false win, wherever you go and turn the man’s 10-SQUARE FOOT campaign posters are NEVER REMOVED from our faces for the following 5 years term of office.

And no other campaign posters are tolerated until the next General Erection!

Wachireba, what psychological trauma cowards/bullies, dictators, BOGUS winners and personalities go through?

  2. In other words, the current state Attorneys like Sharon Nambuya, the Magistrates, Judges and the oblivious, obscurantic sycophants and mocking NRM supporters of this country must constantly be reminded about the WORLD WAR II, German Pastor, Martin Niemöller’s poem/rhyme:

First they came for the Socialists, and I did not speak out—
because I was not a Socialist.
Then they came for the Trade Unionists, and I did not speak out—
because I was not a Trade Unionist.
Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out—
because I was not a Jew.
Then they came for me—and there was no one left to speak for me.

Otherwise, except most of the the history we do know, there is nothing new about the state of mind and/or conducts of tyrants, diabolic dictators and their Hench/hatchet men. Like e.g. the 4th Century AD Roman Emperor, Nero, they even go the mile to murder their own mothers/immediate relatives, who did not agree with their diabolism on the people they are suppose to lead.

A few years ago, the current North Korean Dictator, Kim Jung Un, through a firing squad; got his UNCLE pulverized with an Anti Aircraft Artillery/machinegun. That was simply because, the old man was dozing while he, Mr. Un was addressing an audience.

In other words, except his step brother, Salim Saleh (the Governor of Northern Uganda), wife, Kataha; and the Otafiire of this country who have been pushed into the peripheral. Where have all the key figures and/or Generals who escorted Mr. M7 to our State House gone?

The wakina Gen Tinyejusa, Tumukunde, Kale Kayihura, etc., you would think are already resting in peace (RIP) like their counterparts Gen Kazini and Aronda.

Unfortunately many Ugandans see nothing wrong with such alienations and loud absence of people like Former Prime Minister Amama Mbabazi,, Rugunda and the power of the Sam Kuteesa of this country.

Recently, the fuzzy Gen Jim Muhwezi, the regime corruption back born, were dropped like a hot potato.
