With a mix of education, healthcare, and fun activities, the Baby and Kids Expo East Africa 2025 next month, on May 9-11, 2025, at UMA Multipurpose Hall, Lugogo.
Held under the theme “Strengthening Families Through Healthcare, Growth, and Zero Violence,” Kiara Events Ltd, the brains behind the expo has promised an impactful and enhanced experience for children, parents, and exhibitors alike.
Kiara Events Ltd managing director Joweria Nabuuma, said the expo will serve as a vital platform for parents, children, expectant mothers, and industry stakeholders to access valuable resources, exchange knowledge, and build essential skills.
“We’re excited to deliver an expo that not only showcases products and services enhancing child well-being but also offers expert-led sessions on critical topics, including raising children with special needs, mental and physical wellness, first aid, and instilling values in young minds,” she said.
Nabuuma highlighted the urgency of investing in education and healthcare for sustainable family growth, especially given Uganda’s youthful population. Disturbing statistics show that three in four young adults (aged 18-24) experienced some form of childhood violence, with 35% of girls and 17% of boys reporting sexual abuse.
Nabuuma emphasized that such realities make this expo a timely intervention. The expo will feature health talks, free vaccinations, triage services, and special sessions on conditions such as Down syndrome, autism, and neonatal health, led by experts from the Children’s Clinic. Beyond the vaccinations, wealth and health talks, there will also be fun and educational activities specially curated for kids, including gymnastics, treasure hunts, art and painting, Spelling Bee competitions, kids fashion and modelling, baby races among others.

Balaam Barugahara Ateenyi, minister of state for Youth and Children Affairs, applauded the expo’s focus on Uganda’s young population.
“Events like this play a pivotal role in mobilizing both the public and private sectors to reimagine childhood in Uganda, where children grow up healthy, safe, and loved. We commend Kiara Events Limited for creating a platform that empowers parents, caregivers, and service providers with the knowledge and resources to raise children in nurturing environments,” he said.
This year’s expo is supported by the Ministry of Gender, Labour, and Social Development, Nation Media Group, Capital One Group (COG) EA Ltd, Kids Nook, Baby Junior, UZAZI, Verina Play House, The Cradle, and Star Kids Club all committed to advancing children’s rights, development, and family empowerment.
Diana Kajumba, director of Kids Nook, expressed excitement about returning to the expo: “Last year was a fantastic experience. This year, we plan to have more giveaways, better product demonstrations, and an even more educational experience for our visitors.”
Additionally, Nabifo Wamunga, founder and CEO of Uzazi Hub, revealed that they will be launching carefully curated hospital bag packages designed to support mothers in the first days of motherhood.
Happy Ampumuza, the events supervisor at Movit Products, said that as a trusted leader in baby skin products, the expo offers a remarkable platform to engage directly with parents, share expert insights on baby skincare and hygiene, and demonstrate how Baby Junior is making a meaningful difference in the well-being of young children
