Are you the type that enjoys those simple magical scenes?

Well, why not consider getting hold of Sony’s new Alpha a6500? Though not greatly altered from other a6000 series, this might be an ideal camera for you.

Launched in December 2016, the portable photo-shooting device has larger buttons that are logically placed for easy use. Its magnesium alloy body gives it a longer lifespan since it gets less damaged in case it hits the ground. Due to its mirror-less nature, it can take great pictures on chilly and dusty days.

Although its image quality can’t be compared to that of the Nikon D500, a6500 can still pick out those hidden images in shadows once its ISO output is set well.

Its Auto ISO operates within a range of 100mm to 6400mm and has selectable upper and lower limits.  Also, be ready to get a great picture and video once you set the right white balance. A 24.2 megapixels Fine JPEG setting gives an average portable image size of around 7mb.

Equipped with over four quality settings, (JPEG fine, JPEG Standard, RAW, RAW+JPEG Extra fine, among others); the camera gives you options for a good picture.

Its five-flash settings also give it an added advantage over its predecessor – the Sony a6300. The a6500 can easily transfer pictures to your tablet or phone since they have in-built Wifi.  One can access the menu and check through the pictures using the 3.0-inch touch-enabled screen at the back. With 13 colour effects, you can easily choose which mode fits your scene to tell the story.

Hassan Nkaire, a dealer in electronics in Kampala, says the a6500 will be popular once it is retailed in Uganda, but he is not sure if it will sell. He notes that Ugandans prefer to buy cheaply, and would only think of owning such a gadget if it comes in second-hand, costing half its current price.

“It’s a great camera. But because it is new, it’s hard for us to make orders. We don’t know if we will make profits. Many of our customers ask for Nikon,” he says.
Nkaire says they will only start dealing in the Sony Alpha a6500 once there is demand for it. He advises those who wish to own one to make orders online or buy one in the UK or US at $1,155 (Shs 4,042,500).

Currently, if you wish to order the a6500 from Amazon, Ebay or any other e-market, you need $1,400 (Shs 4,900,000), exclusive of shipping costs.
