Wakiso Dance Kids wow crowd at Ray G’s concert 

Wakiso Dance Kids once again showed that talent has no age limit when the young dancers took to the stage to open the live concert for celebrated western Uganda artiste Ray G.

Before Ray G took the spotlight, the young performers had one job — to get the audience on its feet. And they delivered.

With energetic moves, impressive coordination, and a strong connection to African rhythms, Wakiso Dance Kids quickly captured the crowd’s attention and set the tone for the evening.

For the children, however, the performance was more than just another show. It was an opportunity to gain experience, build confidence, and demonstrate what young people can achieve when given the right platform.

Wakiso Dance Kids has continued to use dance and creative arts to nurture children’s talents while giving them opportunities to participate in Uganda’s growing entertainment industry.

Over the years, the young dancers have shared stages with established Ugandan artistes, gaining valuable experience while showing that children can also play a meaningful role in the country’s creative economy.

Their performance alongside Ray G brought together two generations of Ugandan talent — an established artiste representing the musical voice of Western Uganda and a new generation of dancers keeping Uganda’s cultural and artistic traditions alive.

More than dance

Through dance and other creative activities, the children develop discipline, teamwork, confidence and the skills needed to perform professionally.

The group’s journey has also shown the importance of giving young talent consistent support. Some of the children who started out as young performers have continued to grow and pursue opportunities within the creative industry.

This is part of what makes Wakiso Dance Kids different. The organisation is not only creating performers for the stage; it is helping young people build skills that can shape their future.

By performing in front of real audiences and sharing stages with established artistes, the children gain experiences that cannot always be taught in a classroom.
