Singer Ykee Benda was handed one of the biggest roles at the CMVAs on Saturday evening.

His job was to open the show with a bang. His Munakampala is a big hit; so, when the opening notes kicked in, the crowd got excited. It turned out that even the singer was mob-excited.

He sauntered onto the stage with the dancers and forgot to bring along the most important tool: the microphone he was supposed to use.

He realized his gaffe and moved back to collect the microphone and catch up with the beat. Awkward!

Meanwhile, Sheebah Karungi and Team No Sleep had earlier trashed the awards; so, she was absent, meaning Ykee had to perform their collaboration, the popular Farmer all by himself with the help of gumboot-clad dancers.

ThinTallTony out of BB Naija at last

Looks like the Nigerian morality police has struck. Finally!

For weeks there, it looked like ThinTallTony, the lanky, light-skinned choreographer and ladies’ man, was the obvious winner of this year’s Big Brother Nigeria.

He seemed to have leadership in his genes when it came to executing group tasks; was very competitive in individual tasks; a great dancer on Saturday nights and the ultimate entertainer by Big Brother viewers’ standards – if past editions are anything to go by.

But there was a catch: ThinTallTony or TTT is a married man with children, a detail he has never spoken about in the South Africa-based house. As a result, he has had some of the female contestants falling all over him and into his bed, with little protest from his side, to the chagrin of Naija viewers, known to be the eternal moralists.

Single mother Bisola, in particular, was seemingly head over heels in love with the man with the afro. But just like that, his game exploded in his face. Last Sunday he was handed a shock eviction from the house, over supposedly less popular nominees: TBoss, Efe and Deby Rise.

Bisola wept and mourned like a widow on TTT’s exit, while on the live stage her lover boy told presenter Ebuka the fling meant nothing to him, because he is a married man.

Ah! Bisola, move on, already; one day you will thank Nigerians who obviously got tired of the tall man disrespecting his wife on continental TV.

Joram lands Urban Fashionista gig

Model manager and fashion show producer Joram Muzira has landed a major gig at Urban TV. He will host the station’s fashion show, Urban Fashionista. This follows the resignation of previous host Malaika Nnyanzi last year.

Muzira will be stepping into her big shoes and he is already at it. His debut gig was the High Tea hosted by Serena the previous weekend before he found himself on the blue carpet of the CMVAs last Saturday.

Many people were seeing him holding that mic for the first time and did not know it was a permanent placement. Well, congratters, Joram.

Exodus’ car clamped

Gospel singer Exodus was having a great night. He had just won the accolade for best choreography at the second edition of Club Music Video awards (CMVAs).

After a couple of pictures and interviews on the red carpet, he discovered something in the parking lot that was undoubtedly going to mess up his night; his Audi had been clamped by the Serena hotel security.

The Igwe singer could not believe that his car of all that were there had gotten clamped at an unmarked and unreserved parking spot. He went off. He demanded the ID of the security man who had given him the news. The security guy declined.

He reached for his phone to take a photo as more people came to see the drama and that is when it dawned on the unarmed guard that he had messed with the wrong person.

He quickly spoke into his radio transmitter and two more arrived with a plain- clothes one who seemed to be the supervisor. The new arrivals apologized for the misunderstanding and issue was quickly resolved.
