MultiChoice Uganda hosted an exclusive premiere for the second season of the historical drama Shaka iLembe at a screening held at Century Cinemax, Arena mall in Nsambya.
Shaka iLembe, a South African-produced epic drama, debuted on June 18, 2023, airing on DStv and GOtv. The 12-part series delves into the life and legacy of one of Africa’s most revered leaders, Shaka Zulu.
Set in the 18th century, the drama explores the legendary monarch’s journey from a troubled childhood to his rise as a powerful ruler. Despite its dramatic flair, Shaka iLembe remains firmly grounded in historical context, offering audiences a rich, culturally layered portrayal of the Zulu kingdom’s formation.
The series is also a visual feast; from the opening scenes alone, it stuns with sweeping drone shots of verdant hills and rugged terrain. The cinematography’s attention to skin tones is noteworthy, enhancing the authenticity and emotional resonance of each frame.
Speaking at the exclusive screening of the first episode, the head of Customer Experience and Care, Patricia Kiconco praised the show’s cultural relevance.
