The subtle ways God talks to us and we are left in no doubt that He has just spoken without even uttering a sound, are the most profound, aren’t they!
Last week I had to rush to hospital after a distress call from a relative, and as I drove through the messy Wandegeya traffic, I passively noted a man enter his Toyota Premio metres ahead of me.
I randomly thought: “This man could carelessly pull into the road and bash my car. Lord, I don’t have time for the drama, because I am in a hurry.”
In my mind, I could almost see him make the mistake, before he even started the engine, and I really found myself fretting about that, despite there being other cars in the parking slots.
I drove past him without incident, but moments later, I heard a crash and angry honking, and looked into my driving mirror. Premio driver had done exactly as I had envisioned him do, only that he knocked the taxi right behind me.
As I watched the traffic jam behind me now become a true nightmare in all directions, I recognised that it was the Lord warning me of the danger ahead!
It is in those subtle moments when I feel He has my back that I am left truly in awe. I know it happens to you too; the constant thought about a random person, which refuses to go away. God is most likely nudging you to pray for that person. Sometimes God gives us direction through dreams.
Just know, when Christians say,“then God told me”, “the Holy Spirit led me”, etc, it is not necessarily that they have seen a clear vision, heard that still, calm voice each time; sometimes God speaks in the most mundane and quiet ways without really saying anything at all.And for me, those are the most earth-shattering conversations.
It could be a last minute decision to change plans or direction, only to realise that decision saved yours or someone’s life. Because of these beautiful conversations God starts, I have learnt to reach out to Him in cases that would otherwise make no sense to most.
One day the car refused to start, and the engine just kept making cluttering noises whenever I turned the ignition, yet we were in the middle of nowhere and darkness was falling fast. Luckily, my pastor was in the car; he got out touched the bonnet and commanded the engine to start.
When I turned the key again, the engine came to life without a sputter!
Recently, the shower mixer at home badly malfunctioned at a time when I was super broke. Remembering the car incident, I touched it asked the God who gives plumbers wisdom to “fix this”.Just know, the plumber never came in, and the problem did not reoccur.
Pay attention to God. You will be pleasantly shocked at how constantly He is in conversation with you!

Hallelujah! I have undoubtedly been blessed by this. We should practice hearing from the Lord as Christians. That quiet, still, small voice can save your life or help you make wise decisions that set you apart from other people, like the non-believers, if you listen to it. The scripture says, “My sheep know my voice.” We cannot be the sheep that do not know his voice, yet we have been to do so.
Before a terrible event occurred to me on December 26th of last year, a voice repeatedly warned me not to go. The kind of energy you get when you do not feel like doing something, but you still do it. but I ignored the voice. He still yet came through to reserve me, by his Grace.
