Touching real-life social issues that affect African teenagers such as teenage pregnancies, teacher-to-student sexual advancement, drug abuse, and early marriages, among others, the first season was produced by Emmanuel Ikubese Films from Nigeria and Reach a Hand Uganda.

The second season, starting on NBS TV this month, features our own Usama Mukwaya, the show producer, with actors from Uganda, Kenya, Rwanda, and Nigeria.

Kyaddala II follows the lives of high school friends reunited by their admission to university. Caleb struggles with living an HIV-positive life, a secret he keeps before it threatens to take his life, kills his friendships, and takes away the only thing that mattered to him, and Umutoni’s past comes back to haunt her.

There were some new faces such as Anita Fabiola and Allan Toniks. Season 2 premiered last Thursday at Mestil hotel in Nsambya in a black and gold-themed night that was well attended.

Speaking at the premiere, the CEO of Reach a Hand Uganda, Humphrey Nabimanya, said: “Watching Kyaddala come to reality is a dream come true that dates way back to when I loved making films, but I thought it was not possible.  I’m grateful to all the cast members and the entire team I work with that made it possible… most importantly, it has created employment for much-talented youth.”

After all the formalities were done, some of Uganda’s finest vocalists, Naava Grey and Allan Toniks, entertained the crowd.
