.
It is that time of the year again. Festivities are around the corner and it seems the entire city will be one big party this weekend.
In one corner of the city, there will be people celebrating theatre, in Entebbe others will be celebrating world music while at the Uganda museum in Kampala, people will be celebrating Uganda’s beer culture
The festival first happened in 2014, and was at the heat of the word ‘festival,’ when almost every person with a budget organized a festival at the Uganda museum grounds. These were about all sorts of things you could think of, including the Muchomo festival, Food festival, Ice Cream festival and other more outrageous festivals.
One could be excused to believe that the Kampala Beer festival was going to be one of these many festivals, but looks like the show is proving to be more than just a one night stand.
Tomorrow, the fanfare is on again as the Beer festival returns for the third edition at a new venue, and probably better curation.
The festival’s venue will change from the usually-known, Uganda museum, to Kyadondo Rugby club.
Like all local events, music is an expected big ingredient, and so it is for the Beer festival. However, unlike the many other festivals which have eventually turned into music concerts, this one will opt for a DJ, a one DJ Kalonje from Kenya.
He is famed for his love for mostly dancehall and reggae; in fact, many of his mixes pay tribute to the Caribbean.
