Reach A Hand Uganda (RAHU) together with Sauti Plus have teamed up to bring an event that celebrates excellence in film and television, with the awards set to take place on March 29, 2025.
Interviewing with media at the event, Usama Mukwaya, the director of Operations at iKON Inspire Foundation, said the nominees for the third edition will be revealed in January.
“February is what they call the luncheon, and nominees meet, and then the award ceremony is going to be on the 29th of March.”
Humphrey Nabimanya, CEO of Reach A Hand Uganda, lauded partners, film producers and actors whose relentless efforts have driven the growth of Uganda’s film sector.
“Filmmakers deserve to be celebrated and appreciated for their dedication,” he said.

He emphasized the need for collaboration to propel Uganda’s film industry forward, advocating for partnerships with established industries such as Nollywood.
“Collaboration is the key to building this industry. We must learn from those who’ve excelled, such as Nollywood, and strive to work together. Winning is a collective effort,” he remarked.
Nabimanya also said the iKon awards are gaining significant recognition in Nigeria, sometimes even more than in Uganda itself.

“In Nigeria, the iKon awards are highly regarded. They follow every update and have even invited us to host the awards in Nollywood. But we believe collaboration should bring them here. We want them to work with us in Uganda, creating a platform for mutual growth,” he added.
This year’s launch featured icons of the industry and emerging stars to celebrate the charm of the 1990s with nostalgic tributes to classic hits and pop culture.
