The Ghetto Kids perform

Everywhere they go, their organic joy at what God is throwing their way is infectious.

When they went for Britain’s Got Talent in 2023, they left the judges and audience so captivated that Bruno Tonioli, who was dancing throughout their performance, pressed the golden buzzer halfway through their dance routine, a first for the show.

They placed sixth. Before BGT, this group of vulnerable Ugandan children under the care of Dauda Kavuma had been introduced to the world by Eddy Kenzo after he featured them in his Sitya Loss video of 2014.

Years later, they danced with French Montana in his Unforgettable video, among other famous international gigs. And now, after years of gracing several international stages, the latest crop of Ghetto Kids has hit the all-time peak of their youthful career.

Yet. They are performing at the 2026 FIFA World Cup halftime show with none other than Colombian pop star Shakira. The Ghetto Kids shared their news the only way they know how; with screams and an impromptu dance-off shared on their social media pages.

Shakira recently shared the news in a video message to her fans, saying she wants to make the performance unique by bringing together different dance talents from around the world.

She confirmed that the Ghetto Kids, who also feature in the video of Dai Dai, the official tournament anthem she sang with Burna Boy, are among those joining her on stage.

Shakira will co-headline the halftime show with Madonna and BTS, but other African acts including Nigerian Rema and South African Tyla will also perform during the tournament. The World Cup will be co- hosted by Canada, USA and Mexico.
