Inter-religious leaders with police officials ahead of the elections

It is interesting seeing some of our pastors try to dictate or influence whom we should vote for president tomorrow.

And they are not in agreement either, on who it should be, funny enough. It is perplexing, watching them on social media trade jibes on who the best president will be, and why no one should vote for the alternative candidate.

How about we go vote and pray the best man wins? After all, our country’s motto is, For God and My Country.

He is invested in this country, and whether we throw tantrums or not, whether we choose violence or not, come this time next week, there will be a president – new or same old – in State House. So, can we find something else to fight over?

I have noted with interest people deciding in their hearts that their congregations should subscribe to what they (the pastors) subscribe to. If only they were allowed to peep into those basins we vote from, come election day… some would faint, I bet!

At a recent balokole function, one such pastor, whose choice of president is very obvious, mentioned the name of the opponent in passing, and someone in the audience cheered enthusiastically. Albeit alone.

The pastor’s expression at ‘the audacity’ was almost comical. But it is a fact that churches, like all of Uganda, are patronized by people of different political affiliations, colours and backgrounds.

What unites us is our steadfast belief in our Lord Jesus Christ. The rest? With all due respect, kindly mind your divine business. Unless God expressly speaks to us about how to vote this week – clearly, He has not, otherwise our spiritual leaders would by now be speaking in one voice – let God’s people exercise their constitutional right, then jubilate or shed premium tears later.

What I am praying for is protection and preservation. Don’t let this election be the last one you ever witness, and don’t let it be the reason you quit on God and church too. It is well, relax.

One reply on “For God and My Country ”

  1. When a dirty, corrupt and obsessed politician stands up and say, “I thank God…. I quickly say, excuse me which God? God of the Bible, God of Heaven and Earth? Or He means gods of the Nile, Nalubale(Lake Victoria), Indian ocean, gods of the trees, or Congo river/forest?

I have a big problem or issue with Clergy men or women promoting pathological, pathetic and habitual liar. Who creates scenes or chaos and then uses reverse psychology to explain to his audience so that we think he is very knowledgeable. These leaders should understand what happened to Jesus in the wilderness or Moses when he approached Pharaoh to let his children go free: What are the things the devil used to lure Jesus in submission to the his tricks( bread, power, miracles) Luke 4:1-13. For Moses, he kept mediating until the final straw of Pharaoh’s first born son, the heir to be was slain dead. All the devil does or assigns his agents to play within our minds are physical/emotional pain or physical/emotional pleasure so as we fall victims of his trick stars. The devil is very knowledgeable of God’s word. I hope this sound an alarm bell? These Clergy men/women will be held accountable before God. Nevertheless, God has his angel- Angel Michael who has already been assigned for the mission of deliverance to Ugandans and the great Lakes. This is going to happen soon so that we don’t take credit in ourselves, ONLY give God credit for His power of deliverance.
