Time flies so fast in the fashion world.

Just the other day, it was super cool to reach down and fold the hem of one’s jeans. Not just because one did not want to step into them, but it was a fashion statement in its own right.

Today, you may not need those excess inches on your hemline. Just cut them off, creating the latest fad in jeans wear: the unfinished/raw hem.

This trend is so popular that many fashion lines feature both finished and unfinished hems to cater for both clienteles, creating a stunning juxtaposition of refined and rough. The whole unfinished look sounds too casual. Well, it is. But that does not mean you should think only sneakers or flip flops kind of casual. No!

I have seen women rock them with a pair of heels and look absolutely drop-dead-gorgeous.

The beauty with this one is it could go down as the easiest do it yourself (DIY) look, so you do not have to worry about spending on a pair of jeans just because of its raw hem. Just get a pair you feel would look great in that style and cut it.

Hint: the pair must be well fitting. You will need a pair of sharp scissors, then mark where you need the jeans to fall when cut.

The finished job should look clean and thorough. Cut vertical lines of just a few millimeters into the hems and rub them against each other to achieve the frayed look.
