Ndejje University excelled at the 10th East African University games, which took place at Kenyatta University in Kenya, recently.

Ndejje took first position with 94 medals, followed by Kyambogo University in second place with 74 medals, ahead of hosts Kenyatta University with 56 medals.

Ndejje won 36 gold, 28 silver and 30 bronze. Other Ugandan institutions that participated in the games included Uganda Christian University, Kampala University, Makerere University Business School, while Kenya was represented by Strathmore University and Moi University.

From Tanzania, University of Dar es Salaam, Summit University, Mzumbe University and Zanzibar University participated. Some 46 institutions participated in the games, participating in soccer, handball, volleyball, netball hockey as well as rugby, among some of the activities being judged.

Following the end of the competition, Ndejje University, who will host the 2017 edition of the games, have pledged to retain their title. Ndejje University spokesperson Joseph Collins Ssemanda said they were prepared to win again.

“It is a timely achievement since Ndejje University is marking 25 years of existence, later this year,” he said.
