Kasese municipal education officer, Emmy Mwesige Kayiri says it’s a waste of government resources if the primary school does not have adequate learners to fully utilize the structures and the staff.
Kayiri says the school registers low enrolment because most of the people in the area come only to do farming when their families reside somewhere else.
“We acknowledge that this is one of the developed schools in the municipality, however in our considered opinion, we think it’s time that it is transferred to a more populated area than Mubuku,” Kayiri says.
Hebert Bwambale, the Kasese municipal secretary for social services noted that the council had recommended to the government to consider turning the primary school into a farm school to help boost agricultural knowledge in the area.
