Luwero diocese has outlined an ambitious agenda for 2025 aimed at improving education and promoting environmental stewardship in the sub-region.
According to Bishop Rt Rev Wilson Kisekka, the plan will cover the districts of Luwero, Nakaseke, and Nakasongola with a focus on addressing the challenges faced by Church-founded schools.
Since his consecration in March 2024, Kisekka has engaged extensively with congregations to foster unity after a period of leadership divisions and feuds. Bishop Kiseka’s election followed the nullification of Rev Canon Godfrey Kasana Ssemakula’s appointment as the 4th Bishop of Luwero, a decision that had polarized the faithful.
Kisekka’s message also reflected the diocese’s annual mission theme, “Imitating God’s Goodness by Doing Good” (Galatians 6:9-10), encouraging acts of kindness, particularly towards fellow believers. Beyond education, the bishop emphasized environmental conservation, urging members to plant trees on church land.
“Let it be a practice that every Christian confirmed in our faith plants a tree,” he said, highlighting the importance of environmental stewardship.
He further advised church leaders to resolve any land-related challenges and seek assistance from the diocesan department for lands when necessary.
