Nakyeyune (C) with members of the Uptown Kampala Rotary club

On May 17, the newly-established Rotary Club of Uptown Kampala was officially launched with a promise to make a significant impact on the local community.

During the club’s grand Charter Night celebration at Canary Gardens, Immaculate Nakyeyune, the charter president, emphasised the club’s commitment to service, stating that the club’s key focus will be on fighting diseases within the community.

“This signature project will mark the beginning of a shared journey to create lasting change locally and globally as the charter,” she said.

Additionally, Nakyeyune stated that the charter will also focus on education, environmental protection, water and sanitation so as to create a lasting impact in the community.

Rotary International’s global mission to tackle humanitarian challenges through volunteer efforts inspires the club, which has nearly 30 charter members.

Anne Nkutu, the district governor, who officiated the charter presentation, highlighted the importance of the club’s efforts: “This is a historic moment for the club and our community. Our charter marks the beginning of a shared journey to create lasting change,” she said.

Nkutu also noted that the club’s growth and success depend on the proactive engagement of its members and their dedication to service.
