Last week, Unra issued the Substantial Completion Certificate to CCCC to signify the satisfaction of the work, which was completed a month ahead of schedule. This is expected to ease the flow of traffic on the road, especially along the busy towns of Najjanankumbi, Kajjansi, Kisubi and Abayita Ababiri, among others.
“In my opinion you fulfilled your obligation to complete and maintain the works in accordance with the contract having carried out all outstanding work under the special conditions of contract,” reads part of the letter Unra sent to CCCC.
However, the contractor will remain on site for the Defects Liability Period (DLP) that ends on February 2, 2023. Allan Sempebwa, the Unra media manager, says they are happy CCCC finished the main works ahead of time.
“The contractor is still working on accesses, drainages and safety markings. Generally, however, the main pavement works to seal the road surface has been done,” he said.
Zheng Biao, the CCC country manager, noted that they have a track record of executing projects not only on time but also taking into consideration the impact of the environment and minimizing damage to the local eco-system.
The firm has done several works, including the Entebbe expressway, Soroti-Karamoja road as well as the expansion of the airport, among others.
