By building the capacity of local suppliers, Majid Al Futtaim is encouraging value addition which will in turn help to boost household incomes,” she added.
Hani Weis, the CEO of Majid Al Futtaim, said the launch is an integral part in the retailer’s long-term ambitions in Uganda.

The company will employ 130 Ugandans and has contracted 50 more from external companies. More than 260 local companies have been engaged to supply stock to the Carrefour store in Uganda. Majid Al Futtaim owns franchise rights to operate the Carrefour brand in over 30 countries across the Middle East, Africa and Asia.
