An overwhelming 98% of men undergoing DNA tests at Uganda’s Government Analytical Laboratory (GAL) are discovering they are not the biological fathers of the children they have been raising, the ministry of Internal Affairs has revealed.

Simon Peter Mundeyi, spokesperson for the ministry, described a sharp increase in men seeking to confirm paternity, but said the results have often been heartbreaking.

“We have experienced a surge in the number of people carrying out DNA tests on their purported children. In just three days, we received 94 or more cases. About 95% of those coming for DNA tests are men, but more than 98% of the results show these men are not the biological fathers,” Mundeyi said.

He noted that many men leave the laboratory emotionally devastated, especially when they find out that children they have raised for years are not biologically theirs.

“My advice, as usual, is: do not engage in DNA unless you have a strong heart. Many of these men come with children aged around 15, and it deeply pains them when they’re told the children are not theirs. Please do DNA tests when the children are very young,” he added.

Mundeyi’s remarks come just days after high-profile DNA revelations ruled out five of the nine children initially claimed to belong to the late Kawempe North MP, Muhammad Ssegirinya.

In a similar case, a DNA test recently confirmed that one of the children of Prof. Muhammad Kateregga, proprietor of Kampala University, was not biologically his, following suspicions stemming from domestic disputes.

A standard DNA test at GAL costs $300 (about Shs 1 million) and covers three samples, usually from the alleged father, mother, and child. Each sample is charged at $100. In a surprising development, GAL reports that DNA testing is no longer limited to men.

Some children are now requesting DNA tests to confirm their biological ties to parents, and in rare instances, mothers are seeking tests to verify if they are the biological mothers of their children. The ministry of Internal Affairs continues to urge the public to exercise caution before pursuing DNA testing, warning of the potential emotional and familial disruptions that can follow.

  1. In summary, carry out DNA at your own risk or even better assume they’re all not yours so that when one of them is. You are pleasantly surprised!

They’re are your children raise them and if a purported Father shows up let him compensate you for the 20m you spent and pain and suffering.

  2. A sample size of 94 out of a population of close to 49 million! Please compute that sample size as a percentage of the population first before concluding that only 2% of DNA tests confirm paternity. 94 cases are outliers that should be winsorized before statistics are computed and inferences drawn. Please don’t create alarm and disorganize families.

    1. Indeed men who seek DNA tests already have suspicion that the children are not theirs using traditional DNA conformation parameters-child resembles no one in the father’s family except the mothers, has unusual behavior unknown in the fathers lineage etc. so little wonder that most tests then confirm the suspicions. So the report here is being sensational.I believe if all the fathers tested their children in Uganda, more tests would be positive.

  3. This is a very sensational headline. The people who go for paternity tests are already suspicious of the paternity of their kids, so they are not a true reflection of the general population

  5. Proverbs 31:3 reads, “Do not spend your strength on women, your vigor on those who ruin kings” — did you catch that? Be wise guys … not wimps.

Lucretia, Boudicca, Zenobia, and even figures like Cleopatra are example of women, in various capacities that led to the weakening of an entire Roman empire until it ultimately collapsed.

So, the generally so-called “human angels” often referred to as women, who are, from the time I started comprehending anything till date, portrayed as innocent, vulnerable, and often abused by these men … turns out that most are probably the devil’s agent after all – just ask all those fallen pastors and see. And then the falsely hyped strong macho men are, as it often always turns out, the puppets, used by these “angels” as a means to achieve an intended ending.

In other words, don’t just be fooled. Be prudent in all your dealings and you won’t end up like a Samson vs Delila situation.

I think I have so far come across one very strong man, a former politician in Uganda, who successfully play a woman at her own game in these paternity things that she practically ended up with nothing a very public permanent public humiliation. Search your sources and see that this man was also a Deputy Prime Minister in this regime … and so you will know who and what.
